My passion and love for makeup began when I was a child. I was fascinated by the women I saw who wore makeup on TV. My mom wasn’t that impressed and she never wore any makeup except for lip gloss. I, of course, was the polar opposite. I would often hear my mom say, “Charlotte, you are wasting money on that makeup stuff.”
Fast forward several years and decades and that love has not faded at all! I love how makeup, whether it’s a lip color, eyeshadow, natural makeup look or a total glam look, it has the ability to enhance a woman’s or man’s natural beauty.
I was inspired by the musicals from the 1940s, Disney and magazines, television ads and so on.
I grew up in the USA, but moved around because my father was in the Air Force. I moved to Cape Town, South Africa in 1990 and worked as a beauty consultant for Estee Lauder for 2-1/2 years. I had to put this journey aside to get married, have children and be a mom of 4 amazing kids who are now adults and out of the house and I can now pursue my dreams.
I have taken the step of going back to school (Kohl Makeup Academy) and I am currently training to become an internationally certified make up artist. There are 9 other extremely gifted young makeup artist in my class. It’s a joy to see how we are all growing. I have already expanded into face painting and have worked with many talented makeup artists and my fellow students at the Cape Town Carnival 2023.
Upon completion of the course, I will begin to take steps into the world of beauty. I will have a Level 3 In International Diploma in: Makeup Artistry and qualified with VTCT. I am excited to see where this leads and the creativity of makeup.
